This qualification reflects the role of individuals such as supervisors or team leaders, working in metalliferous processing facilities or coal preparation and treatment plants, who perform tasks involving a broad range of varied activities, most of which are complex and non-routine.
This course is half price for everyone (excl. school students) as part of the Lower Fees, Local Skills initiative. Fees are also capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession. Find out more here.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals such as supervisors or team leaders, working in metalliferous processing facilities or coal preparation and treatment plants, who perform tasks involving a broad range of varied activities, most of which are complex and non-routine. They are responsible for the quantity and quality of the output of others, contribute to the development of technical solutions to non-routine problems and apply safety management plans to the workplace.
The course is designed to include the required statutory units as mine supervisors in Western Australia are required to hold statutory units of competence as mandated by the regulator - DMIRS (Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety) - to ensure they can legally and effectively fulfil their safety-critical responsibilities.

Workplace Assessment is designed for experienced workers currently employed in the field who wish to upskill or gain formal recognition of their existing skills and knowledge. CRTAFE trainers and assessors conduct assessments that recognise informal learning and on-the-job experience, ensuring participants receive appropriate credit for their practical expertise.

- Secondary school aged persons (in 2026, students born on or after 1 July 2008 who are at least 15 years old in 2026) undertaking training that is not part of a VET Delivered to Secondary Schools program, the maximum course (tuition) fee chargeable is $420. Additional resource fees and discretionary fees may apply.
