TAFE Admissions applications open Friday 6 September, 2024 for our Semester 1, 2025 full time and part time on campus qualifications.

Applications are made via the TAFE Admissions website. You can access the TAFE Admissions website either by the Apply Now button on the course page or the button below. Please let us know if you need any assistance.

Main Intake Applications - Friday 6 September, 2024 

Applications open for all full-time courses starting in Semester 1, 2025.

Applications and preference change close - Friday 1 November, 2024

Main intake applications close. Change of preferences close for all courses.

You can change your preferences by logging in via tasonline.tafe.wa.edu.au(opens in a new tab) .

Up to this date, you can:

1. add new preferences, for any course;
2. change the order of the preferences;
3. cancel preferences; or
4. change the campus of an existing preference

Offers for Competitive Courses - Wednesday 4 December, 2024. 
These are courses which are very popular and generally receive more applications than places available. 

Offers can be viewed online at tasonline.tafe.wa.edu.au(opens in a new tab) and will be emailed from 12pm.

Offers for Non-Competitive Courses - Friday 6 September, 2024 to Friday 24 January, 2025. 
Offers for non-competitive courses are made throughout the intake for courses that are not competitive. Offers are available online at tasonline.tafe.wa.edu.au(opens in a new tab) and will also be emailed.

Late Applications - Saturday 2 November, 2024

Late applications will be accepted for most courses, but some courses will no longer be available if filled through the main intake of applications. Students are encouraged to apply during the main intake of applications to maximise the chance of success.

Late applications close Friday 13 December, 2024.

Late application offers (competitive courses) will be between Wednesday 8 January to Friday 17 January, 2025.

Waitlist Applications - Saturday 14 December, 2024  
Waitlist application will be accepted for courses not filled through the main intake period. Not all courses will be available during this period, and applications will only be considered if places are still available.  

Students applying for some of our courses may be required to meet minimum literacy and numeracy standards. Some courses may also have additional entrance requirements such as mandatory prerequisites or industry requirements.  

Entry and eligibility requirements are available on each course page. These are set to ensure you have a successful study journey. 

Documents that may be requested to support your application include: 

• School results – Semester 2 reports from years 10-12* 
• WACE certificate, OLNA or NAPLAN results 
• Results of English language tests 
• Full qualifications completed under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) 
• University results, bridging and access courses 
• Evidence of previous work history 

Be prepared with all the required documents for your course before you start your application. 

*Current secondary school students applying for entry into Semester 1 2024 will be assessed based on their Semester 1 results from their current year of study. TAFE Admissions will predict end of year outcomes based on these results.

Should the end of year results differ significantly from Semester 1 results, the college may suggest alternative options to the student.

Students currently studying a qualification under the VET for Secondary Students program will be assessed based on an assumption that they will successfully complete their qualification. They may be required to provide their academic record or qualification as proof of completion at time of enrolment. Should the qualification not be completed, applicants may become ineligible for an offer and the college will work with those applicants on alternative options.

Our popular courses are known as ‘competitive’. This means that more applications are anticipated to be received than there are places available.  

All applications for these courses will undergo a selection criteria process that will rank each application against set criteria. 

Applicants applying for competitive courses will be asked to provide additional information to support the TAFE Admissions ranking process. 

If you apply for a competitive course, think about also entering a non-competitive alternative. Applicants can select up to four preferences in their application. 

Selection Criteria  

Applicants meeting entry requirements are ranked against academic achievement and work history. Offers will be issued to applicants with the highest total points scores. 

Academic Achievement (Maximum 60 points) 
Highest points derived from either: 

• secondary education results or 
• a fully completed qualification issued under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) 

Documented evidence will be requested to support academic achievement. 

Work History (Maximum 30 points) 
Derived from previous or current work including: 

• paid employment 
• volunteer, community services and unpaid employment 
• work experience 

Documented evidence will be requested to verify work history claims.  

Note: Work history does not need to be related to the course you are applying for. 

Many students choose to build their foundation skills by starting with an entry-level certificate, and then working their way through the qualification (opens in a new tab) levels. 

Applicants with previous work experience and a solid understanding of the industry may be able to start in a high-level qualification.

Applications for our Self-Paced courses (external and onsite), Skill Sets and Short Courses are open all year round. Simply click on the Apply Now link on the course page for your preferred course to start the application process.

Apprenticeships 
Usually last three or four years depending on the qualification and cover 'traditional' trades such as carpentry, electrical, automotive, engineering, hairdressing, plumbing and cheffing. Once you have successfully completed your training, you will become a qualified tradesperson. 

Traineeships 
Usually last one or two years and provide training in vocational areas not usually covered by apprenticeships. Traineeships are available across a diverse range of emerging careers in most sectors of business and industry.  Once you have successfully completed your training, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification.
