Support for your study journey
Every student's journey is different. Our role is to help you access the support, opportunities and guidance you need to achieve your goals.
Our Aboriginal Student Support staff are here to help Aboriginal students throughout their time at Central Regional TAFE.
Support may include course advice, training pathways, career planning, enrolment support, ABSTUDY and Centrelink matters, fee payment options, scholarships, tutoring, mentoring, case management, referrals to external agencies and support with cultural or personal matters. Aboriginal Student Support staff can also be a first point of contact if you are unsure where to go or who to speak to.

You may be leaving school, returning to study, looking for work, wanting to upskill or exploring a new career direction. Our team can help you understand your options, choose a suitable course and connect with support that can help you stay on track.
We can also help you explore employment pathways, career planning and training opportunities that support your goals.
Studying can feel more manageable when you have the right support around you.
Aboriginal students may be able to access tutoring, mentoring, study guidance and support with course requirements. Support staff can help students build confidence, manage challenges and stay connected throughout their training.

We want training to be accessible and affordable.
Aboriginal students may be eligible for financial support, flexible payment options, scholarships or assistance through ABSTUDY. Our team can help students understand available options and where to go for further information.
Culture, identity and connection are important parts of a student’s learning journey.
Our Aboriginal Student Support staff provide culturally appropriate support and can help students with cultural matters, personal concerns and referrals to external support services when needed.

Aboriginal Designated Placement Program
Central Regional TAFE offers an Aboriginal Designated Placement Program, which provides designated places in a range of courses for Aboriginal students.
To be eligible, students need to meet the course entry requirements. Students applying through this program may not need to apply through the standard TAFE Admissions application process.
The program is designed to support Aboriginal students to access training opportunities and build pathways into further study, employment and career development.
Aboriginal Learning Centre
The Aboriginal Learning Centre is located at the Geraldton Campus and provides a welcoming space for Aboriginal students, staff and community.
The centre supports learning, connection and cultural engagement. It provides a space for social, cultural and educational activities and helps share Aboriginal culture across the broader Central Regional TAFE community.
The Aboriginal Learning Centre was created to support Aboriginal students in a culturally respectful and welcoming environment.
It provides space for learning, student support, cultural activities and connection. It also plays an important role in helping the wider Central Regional TAFE community learn more about Aboriginal culture, history and practices.
The Aboriginal Learning Centre may be available for events, performances, workshops or training programs.
