A Certificate IV in Disability will prepare you to work as a disability support worker in a client's home or within a community organisation. Learn how to help people with an intellectual or physical disability, by empowering them to become more independent and self-reliant, allowing them to participate in community activities.

People working at this level may be a supervisor or manage the performance of other team members, you can also report to service managers and may liaise with health professionals and other service agencies.

To attain this qualification, you are required to successfully complete fourteen (14) units of competence, comprising eleven (11) core and three (3) elective units selected from the options provided below. On-the-job learning must also be completed to attain this qualification under Apprenticeship/Traineeship arrangements.

  • Secondary school aged persons (in 2024, students born on or after 1 July 2006 who are at least 15 years old in 2024) undertaking training that is not part of a VET Delivered to Secondary Schools program, the maximum course (tuition) fee chargeable is $420. Additional resource fees and discretionary fees may apply. 
  • VET Student Loans for eligible courses and fee caps may be subject to changes implemented by the Australian Government.
