This qualification reflects the role of individuals such as mine managers, working in open cut coal or metalliferous mines or quarries. Learn to perform tasks involving a high level of autonomy and requiring the application of significant judgement in planning and determining the selection of equipment, roles and techniques for themselves and others. You will learn to apply a broad range of technical, managerial, coordination and planning skills, and implement safety management plans.

This course is designed for students working in a supervisor and/or managerial role who require further upskilling and/or are required under Part 10.7A of the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 [WHS (Mines) Regulations] prescribed positions in relation to mines, to complete specific units of competency as part of the statutory regulations and reporting requirements to DMIRS.

Students must be working in a supervisory or management position and have a minimum of 3 years mining experience.
