When you complete the Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) (Electrotechnology Pre-Apprenticeship) you'll be what employers are looking for as an apprentice in the electrical, instrumentation or electrical servicing trades.
Gain these skills:
- Work effectively in the construction industry
- Use hand and power tools
- Interpret drawings
- Take electrical and electronic measurements
- Solder components
- Workplace health and safety.
This qualification has been replaced and is currently in a teach-out period. Students will be informed by their lecturer whether they will be required to transition to the current qualification. In this case, there may be some non‑equivalences where students may need to complete additional units or gap training.

- Effective numeracy and literacy skills
- Effective communications skills
- Acceptable presentation
- Punctuality
- A positive attitude
- Interest in the industry as a career
- Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces and around moving machinery
