CENTRAL REGIONAL TAFE WELCOMES GENEROUS DONATION FROM NORTHERN STAR MINING SERVICES

  • Sandvik LH5 517i underground loader arrives at Kalgoorlie Campus of Central Regional TAFE
  • Training on industry standard equipment prepares students for the workplace
  • Donation helps to further enhance the capabilities of the state-of-the-art heavy trades and engineering workshops, opened in March 2025

Central Regional TAFE is proud to announce a significant enhancement to its educational resources, thanks to a generous donation from Northern Star Mining Services and local stakeholders in the Goldfields. This collaboration has resulted in the acquisition of an underground loader, which will serve as a vital training and educational tool for our students.

The addition of this industry-standard equipment aligns perfectly with Central Regional TAFE’s commitment to providing the latest industry standard technology and modern facilities at our new Kalgoorlie Trade Training Centre. The new state-of-the-art heavy trades and engineering workshops were opened in March 2024 as part of the State Government’s $250 million investment to upgrade essential infrastructure at TAFE Colleges across WA.

The donation of an underground loader not only adds to our existing resources but also ensures that our students receive direct experience with current equipment in the mining industry.

The underground loader will play a crucial role in our training programs, offering students practical insights and skills that are essential for a successful career in mining operations, trades, and services industries.

By integrating this machinery into our curriculum, we aim to better prepare our students for the demands of the industry and enhance their employability.

Central Regional TAFE extends our appreciation to Northern Star Mining Services and local stakeholders for their invaluable support in providing parts and labour, preparing the loader. Dynamic Maintenance Services, Worthy Engineering, Statewest Group, Hydramech and ATS have all made significant contributions, underscoring the importance of industry partnerships in fostering educational excellence and workforce development.

If you are looking to upskill, start a new career, or explore new pathways in the mining sector, Central Regional TAFE is here to support your journey.

Enrolments for the second semester of 2025 are open now!
