This hands-on course has been developed in response to requests from Wheatbelt Shires to help local Rangers build confidence and competence in operating a chainsaw. Whether you're a Ranger or simply keen to learn, this course is designed for beginners with little to no experience.
This course is fee free* for residents of Western Australia.

This hands-on course has been developed in response to requests from Wheatbelt Shires to help local Rangers build confidence and competence in operating a chainsaw. Whether you're a Ranger or simply keen to learn, this course is designed for beginners with little to no experience.
Participants should have a reasonable level of language, literacy, and numeracy skills, and be self-motivated learners. While the training is tailored to Ranger duties, it is open to anyone interested in gaining safe and practical chainsaw operation skills.
You will learn:

- Enjoy nature and outdoors
- Have a general command of spoken and written English
- Be able to work independently as well as within a team
- Be able to cope outdoors with varied weather conditions (e.g., heat, rain, cold, wind)
- Be able to cope with unpleasant conditions in the natural environment (e.g., flies, pollen)
- Have good hand-eye coordination
- Possess high stamina and fitness levels to carry out manual work
- Be able to follow instructions and Work Health and Safety procedures
