This course is designed to progressively build the skills and knowledge needed to achieve the qualification, ensuring students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
You will gain the following skills:
- Semester 1
Focuses on building a strong foundation in health and community services. Students develop essential communication skills, understand cultural diversity and inclusive practices, and gain practical knowledge in providing individualised support. Additionally, the semester introduces workplace safety, infection prevention, first aid, and personal work management skills, ensuring students are prepared for both client-facing and practical tasks in health and community settings. - Semester 2
Builds on the foundational knowledge and skills gained in Semester 1, with a focus on practical application and clinical experience. Students develop an understanding of human body systems, assist with client mobility, respond to challenging behaviours, and gain hands-on experience in acute care environments. This semester emphasises workplace readiness and professional practice, preparing students for real-world health and community service roles.
Work Placement Requirement
To achieve this qualification with this specialisation, students must complete a minimum of 80 hours of supervised work placement.
