This course is designed for adults who want to improve their literacy, basic maths, and general education skills to access further study, gain employment, or participate in the community. It focuses on developing literacy skills to create and engage with familiar and less familiar paper-based and web-based texts of limited complexity.
Learners will read, interpret, and evaluate everyday texts while building mathematical knowledge to apply numeracy skills in familiar situations. These skills are applied to develop and document a learning plan and prepare a portfolio.
You will learn:
- Operate digital devices and participate in job-seeking activities
- Identify features of personal healthcare
- Develop and document a learning plan; plan and undertake a project
- Engage with texts of limited complexity for personal, learning, and employment purposes
- Participate in spoken interactions of limited complexity
- Create texts of limited complexity for personal, learning, and workplace purposes
- Apply numeracy skills: work with numbers, directions, measurement, shape, and angle in familiar and some less familiar situations

- Secondary school aged persons (in 2025, students born on or after 1 July 2007 who are at least 15 years old in 2025) undertaking training that is not part of a VET Delivered to Secondary Schools program, the maximum course (tuition) fee chargeable is $420. Additional resource fees and discretionary fees may apply.
