Last Sunday, Central Regional TAFE joined thousands of locals at the annual Lorna Mitchell Spring Festival in Kalgoorlie, a much-loved community event organised by the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KBCCI) and proudly supported by local stakeholders including Northern Star and Evolution Mining.
The festival drew a crowd of more than 7,500 Goldfields residents, who enjoyed a full day of live entertainment, craft stalls, food vendors, and family activities. With over 150 community and business stalls taking part, the event was a vibrant showcase of local talent, creativity, and regional pride.
CR TAFE was proud to be part of the celebrations — connecting with the community, sharing information about our local training opportunities, and celebrating the spirit that makes the Goldfields such a dynamic place to live and learn.
The biggest attraction at the festival was the CR TAFE stall, which drew plenty of interest from families and future students alike. George Laughton, Lecturer – Civil & Remote Operations, brought along two welding masks to help promote our Trades courses, which proved a hit with the younger generation — and, of course, the dads — who enjoyed channelling their inner Stormtrooper. Meanwhile, Jobs and Skills Centre (JSC) kept the fun going with a bean bag toss, where winners walked away not only triumphant but also with some JSC merchandise to show off.
A big thank you to the CR TAFE staff who volunteered their time on Sunday to represent the college and engage with visitors throughout the day. Your contribution helped make the event a success and strengthened our connection with the local community.
Below are some photos highlighting the colour and energy of the festival, capturing moments of community connection and celebration throughout the day.
Events like the Lorna Mitchell Spring Festival play a vital role in bringing the community together, and we thank the KBCCI and all sponsors for making this year’s event such a success.
