Creating opportunities through education, training and partnership
Central Regional TAFE acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout the Midwest, Gascoyne, Wheatbelt and Goldfields regions and their connections to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to their Elders past, present and future and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We support the Uluru Statement from the Heart and embrace its invitation to walk alongside Aboriginal peoples, united in a movement for a better future for all Australians.
Where Central Regional TAFE uses the term Aboriginal peoples, it is inclusive of Aboriginal peoples, First Nations peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
At Central Regional TAFE, reconciliation is about creating opportunities, strengthening relationships and supporting positive outcomes for Aboriginal peoples, communities and future generations.
Through education, training and meaningful partnerships, we are committed to helping Aboriginal students build skills, achieve their goals and create pathways into employment, further study and lifelong success.
Our Commitment to Reconciliation
Reconciliation is a journey that involves listening, learning and working together.
Through our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), Central Regional TAFE is committed to increasing participation, achievement and employment outcomes for Aboriginal peoples while creating culturally safe and respectful learning environments.
Our RAP guides how we build relationships, increase respect, create opportunities and embed reconciliation into everyday practice across our campuses and communities.
Supporting Student Success
Student success sits at the heart of our reconciliation journey.
We are committed to ensuring Aboriginal students feel welcomed, supported and empowered to achieve their goals while studying and training at Central Regional TAFE.

A Reconciliation Action Plan, or RAP, provides a framework for organisations to contribute to reconciliation through meaningful and practical action.
It helps guide initiatives that strengthen relationships, increase respect and create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Education and training have the power to change lives, strengthen communities and create opportunities.
At Central Regional TAFE, reconciliation supports our commitment to creating culturally safe learning environments, strengthening partnerships and improving education, training and employment outcomes for Aboriginal peoples.
Aboriginal Student Support Officers and support teams across our campuses work alongside students throughout their training journey.
This support helps students access opportunities, overcome challenges and build confidence as they work towards their study, training and career goals.
Training creates opportunities.
Through practical learning, culturally informed support and strong industry connections, students can build pathways into employment, apprenticeships, traineeships, further study and future careers.
Partnerships That Make a Difference
Strong partnerships help create stronger outcomes for students, communities and regions.
Central Regional TAFE works alongside Aboriginal communities, Elders, organisations, employers and industry partners across the Midwest, Gascoyne, Wheatbelt and Goldfields regions. These relationships help create opportunities for students, strengthen communities and support education, training and employment pathways across regional Western Australia.
Learning through Culture, Knowledge and Country
At Central Regional TAFE, we recognise the value of Aboriginal knowledge, cultures and ways of learning.
We support the National Country-centred VET Framework, which recognises that Aboriginal knowledge systems, cultural practices and connections to Country have an important place in education and training.
The framework helps strengthen culturally informed learning by recognising and respecting Traditional Knowledge alongside vocational education and training outcomes. It supports opportunities for Aboriginal peoples to learn, share knowledge and build skills in ways that are meaningful, relevant and connected to community.
This work reflects our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, cultural respect and improving education and training outcomes for Aboriginal peoples across our regions.
Reconciliation across our regions
Reconciliation is reflected in the work we do every day across our campuses and communities.
From Aboriginal student support programs and culturally informed training through to National Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week and community partnerships, we are committed to creating meaningful opportunities and building respectful relationships.
Meaningful change happens when people work together.
Across our regions, Central Regional TAFE works with Aboriginal communities, organisations, schools, employers and industry partners to identify local priorities and support culturally informed education and training.
These partnerships help ensure our programs are relevant, responsive and connected to community aspirations while creating opportunities for students and supporting stronger outcomes for future generations.
Partnerships with local businesses, organisations and community groups help create scholarships, support programs and training opportunities that assist Aboriginal students to achieve their goals.
These opportunities help reduce barriers to education and support students as they build skills, confidence and pathways into employment, further study and future careers.
Strong partnerships help ensure our training, support services and initiatives reflect community priorities and aspirations.
By working alongside Aboriginal peoples, communities and organisations, we can create opportunities that support student success, strengthen pathways into employment and contribute to positive outcomes for current and future generations.
Throughout the year, Central Regional TAFE participates in events and activities that celebrate culture, strengthen relationships and create opportunities for learning and connection.
Each year, we participate in National Reconciliation Week, creating opportunities for students, staff and communities to come together, learn from one another and reflect on the ongoing journey of reconciliation.
We also celebrate NAIDOC Week and recognise the achievements, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As NAIDOC Week falls during our lecturer and student break, Central Regional TAFE holds dedicated NAIDOC celebrations across our campuses later in the year, ensuring students, staff and communities have the opportunity to come together and participate.
These events provide opportunities to celebrate culture, share knowledge, strengthen understanding and continue building respectful relationships across our regions.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan is built around three important pillars: relationships, respect and opportunities.
These principles guide how we engage with communities, support students and contribute to positive outcomes across our regions.
Walking together

At Central Regional TAFE, we are committed to walking alongside Aboriginal peoples, supporting self-determination, creating opportunities and contributing to stronger communities through education, training and partnership.
Together, we can continue building skills, creating opportunities and supporting success across the regions we serve.
