Applying through TAFE Admissions

Many full-time, on-campus qualifications are managed through TAFE Admissions, the central application system used by WA TAFEs. Applications are submitted online and can include up to four course preferences. Including suitable alternatives can help you create more opportunities to enter your preferred industry or career pathway. Before applying, check the entry requirements on the course page and review the relevant application, preference and offer dates.

Apply through TAFE admissions

TAFE Admissions manages applications for many full-time qualifications offered by Western Australian TAFEs.

Not every CR TAFE course uses TAFE Admissions. Short courses, skill sets, apprenticeships, traineeships, online courses, self-paced courses and some part-time options may use a different application process.

Check the relevant course page or visit the Apply page to confirm how to apply for your chosen course.

Competitive courses receive more applications than the number of places available.

Applicants who meet the entry requirements are ranked against the selection criteria. Offers are made to eligible applicants based on that assessment and the places available.

Competitive applications may be assessed using academic achievement and work history.

Academic achievement may include secondary school results or qualifications completed under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Work history may include paid employment, volunteer work, community service and work experience.

Supporting evidence may be required. Check your course requirements and prepare the relevant documents before applying.

You can include up to four course preferences in your TAFE Admissions application.

Your first preference should be the course you most want to study. Including suitable alternatives can provide additional pathways into your chosen industry and help you continue moving towards your career goals.

Preferences can generally be changed before the published preference-change deadline.

Direct applications

Not all courses use TAFE Admissions. Many short courses, skill sets, apprenticeships, traineeships and part-time study options can be applied for directly through CR TAFE. Application and enrolment dates can vary by course, campus and delivery area. Check the relevant course page for the current application method, availability and start date.

Before you apply

Preparing early can make the application process smoother and give you time to resolve any questions before the deadline.

Review the course page for entry requirements, literacy and numeracy standards, licences, industry prerequisites or other eligibility conditions.

Depending on the course, you may need to provide school reports, WACE or OLNA results, previous qualifications, university results, evidence of English language proficiency or records of employment, volunteer work, community service or work experience.

Check the course requirements and prepare the relevant documents before you apply. This can help avoid delays and give you greater confidence that your application is complete.

Application updates and offers are generally sent electronically.

Check the email address used in your application regularly, including your junk or spam folder. Respond to any requests for information by the stated deadline.

If your preferred course is competitive, consider including other suitable course preferences.

An alternative course may help you build valuable skills, gain industry experience and create new opportunities while working towards your long-term goal.
