This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use a range of well-developed tourism service, sales and operational skills, along with sound knowledge of industry practices, to coordinate tourism services. Students will develop the ability to work with a degree of independence and responsibility, using plans, policies and procedures to guide their work under limited supervision.

This qualification can lead to employment across a variety of tourism sectors, including tour operators, inbound tour operators, visitor information centres, holiday parks and resorts, attractions, cultural and heritage sites, and other small tourism businesses.

The course supports both multi-skilling and specialisation. Career opportunities may include office-based roles focused on planning and coordinating tourism services, field-based roles delivering tourism products and experiences, or operational roles involving customer service, housekeeping and grounds maintenance.

Skills gained through this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards, and industry codes of practice.

Students need to be working or volunteering in a tourism industry workplace before enrolling in units requiring workplace assessments in order to complete this qualification.
