Duration 1 Semester

This pre‑entry course is ideal for people looking to gain an apprenticeship in the Plumbing sector in Western Australia. It is designed to prepare students with essential entry‑level plumbing skills, providing a strong foundation for progressing into a full‑time apprenticeship.

The program is available to Year 11 and 12 aged school students (including early school leavers), mature‑aged applicants, unemployed job seekers, and people who may already have some experience in the building and construction industry and are looking to upgrade their skills. It also supports learners aiming to progress into a Certificate II in Plumbing qualification.

Training and assessment are delivered face‑to‑face, giving students valuable hands‑on experience. As part of the course, students will complete mandatory work placement until a total of 150 hours is achieved. Upon successful completion, students will be awarded a Certificate II in Plumbing, a nationally recognised qualification that supports pathways into a plumbing apprenticeship. From there, students can commence a Certificate III in Plumbing and work towards becoming a qualified plumber.

The course structure has been carefully designed to build knowledge and skills progressively, ensuring all prerequisites are covered before moving on to more complex units. Classroom learning and practical workshop projects are aligned to unit requirements and informed by assessor expertise, industry input, and student feedback from previous years. This approach ensures the training remains relevant, practical, and continually improving.
