Study Mode On campus
Duration 1 Semester
This qualification provides foundational skills and knowledge for entry into the electrotechnology industry. It focuses on safety, basic technical skills, and an introduction to a range of electrotechnology disciplines. The aim of this pre-apprenticeship is to equip learners with industry-specific skills, knowledge, and behaviours to support their transition into an indentured apprenticeship.
This program has been developed in response to ongoing demand within the electrotechnology industry for entry-level workers with strong foundational skills and safety awareness. Consultation with local employers and industry stakeholders has identified the need for pre-apprenticeship training that prepares learners for workplace expectations, particularly in work health and safety, basic electrical principles, and the use of tools and equipment. The program supports workforce development by creating a pipeline of job-ready learners who are prepared to progress into apprenticeships or further training.
The course is suitable for a broad range of learners, including school leavers and adults seeking to enter the electrotechnology industry. It is designed for individuals with little to no prior experience, as well as those exploring career pathways or looking to enhance their employability within the trades sector.
On completion, learners will achieve a nationally recognised qualification and develop the underpinning knowledge and practical skills required for entry-level roles in the electrotechnology industry. The program supports pathways into electrical apprenticeships and further study, while also building essential employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Learners will gain practical experience in a simulated workshop environment, develop an understanding of workplace expectations, and improve their readiness for employment or further vocational training.
