White Card Skill Set - Gascoyne
This program has been developed to support participants in gaining the required construction induction training for entry into the construction industry. The inclusion of this unit provides participants with the opportunity to develop both knowledge and practical understanding of the requirements for working safely on construction worksites.
This course is fee free* for residents of Western Australia.
Some eligibility conditions apply for the fee free training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information.

This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. It requires the individual to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. The unit covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also includes the correct selection and fitting of common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.

Successful completion of the unit results in the attainment of a White Card, enabling participants to legally access construction sites. This supports employment opportunities, including engagement with employers, and provides a pathway into further training and employment within the construction industry.
