The Mine Site Preparation – Permit and Isolation Skill Set provides learners with the skills and knowledge required for entry-level roles in the mining sector. This program has been developed in consultation with industry to ensure it is fit for purpose, with an additional unit included based on industry feedback to support safe work practices in accordance with issued permits.

The training is designed for new starters with little or no prior experience in the mining industry, focusing on developing practical skills and workplace readiness.

Learners need to be 18 years of age (or nearing) to work in the mining sector. The course is suitable for people of any gender, generally located in the Goldfields region, who are looking to gain skills or transition into the mining industry. Applicants intending to seek employment in the sector must be able to meet mine site entry requirements.

On completion of this Skill Set, learners will be issued a Statement of Attainment listing the units achieved.
