Overview

Campus Geraldton

When Semester 1, 2026 | Semester 2, 2026

Study Mode On campus

Duration 8 Weeks

This course provides learners with the essential skills and knowledge needed to use a limited range of basic ceramic techniques and create fundamental ceramic works based on simple design concepts. It is suited to individuals who already have some general design, drawing, or craft abilities and are now beginning a career in the visual arts. Participants typically have little or no experience in ceramics and will work under close supervision with guidance from experienced practitioners.

The course responds to an identified skills gap in the creative arts, particularly in hands-on, face‑to‑face learning environments. It is designed for adult learners, hobbyists, artists, and small business owners who are looking to upskill or explore ceramics more deeply. It also supports students, job seekers, and individuals seeking personal or professional development within creative fields.

Throughout the program, learners will gain practical, foundational ceramic skills that may open pathways to employment, further study, or personal creative enrichment. The face‑to‑face delivery ensures participants receive direct hands-on experience, immediate feedback, and essential safe-handling instruction when working with ceramic materials. This learning mode is especially beneficial for those who thrive in interactive settings where collaboration, experimentation, and learning by doing are central to the experience.
