The SHB20216 Certificate II in Salon Assistant provides learners with a comprehensive foundation in hairdressing support services. This qualification enhances employability by equipping students with practical, entry-level skills applicable across salon environments. It reflects current industry trends, where employers value staff who can assist across a broad range of salon services, particularly in smaller or regional businesses.
This qualification supports the development of essential skills in communication, client service, salon hygiene, and basic hairdressing assistance tasks. It provides a strong foundation for entry into the personal services industry and prepares learners for progression into further training, such as Certificate III in Hairdressing.
Learners who complete this qualification will gain a nationally recognised Certificate II in Salon Assistant. Graduates will be able to perform a range of salon assistant tasks under the direction of qualified hairdressers, including client service, maintaining salon presentation, and assisting with basic hairdressing services.

To attain this qualification, you are required to successfully complete twelve (12) units of competence, comprising eight (8) core and four (4) elective units selected from the options provided below.
This course is delivered in conjunction with SHB20121 Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics.
